1953 Rams Team Issue Football Cards
There are 36 cards in the 1953 Los Angeles Rams team issue set. The cards are slightly over 6x4 inches, like postcards. The backs have short bios of the players, and some have the players' college and Rams stats. The cards closely resemble 1954, 1955, and 1957 Rams team issue cards, and many of the images appeared again in those sets. You can tell the years apart by looking at the backs. A few of the images appeared on 1954 Bowman and 1955 Bowman football cards, as well.
The highlight of the 1953 Rams set is a Dick "Night Train" Lane pre-rookie card. Lane intercepted 14 passes in the 1952 season--still an NFL record, and he did it in 12 games!--but he did not appear in a major football card issue until 1957.
