1964 Topps CFL Football Cards
There are 88 cards in the 1964 Topps CFL football card set: nine team cards, eight or nine players from each team, and two checklists. The 88 cards would have fit an even three times on a full 264-card sheet, so there are no short prints or double prints in the set. Both checklists, oddly, list all 88 cards; they are identical except for the card number on the back. The backs of the team cards are pieces to a puzzle that pictures a big football with the names of the nine teams surrounding it.
One notable player in the 1964 Topps CFL set is Jim Christopherson, who coached Concordia (Minnesota) College for 32 years and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Another is Sherman Lewis, who went on to a long coaching career at Michigan State and in the NFL. Sherman was an assistant coach for four Super Bowl champs: the 1995, 1999, and 2000 San Francisco 49ers; and the 2007 Green Bay Packers.
