Happy 80th birthday to Don McCall! McCall played running back for four seasons in the NFL: 1967 and 1968 for the New Orleans Saints, 1969 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and 1970 for the Saints again. He was an original New Orleans Saint; the team acquired him in the fifth round of the 1967 NFL Draft. McCall’s best season was 1968, when he gained 907 yards from scrimmage and scored six touchdowns.
McCall played college football for the USC Trojans.
Today’s card of the day is McCall’s 1969 Topps card. It pictures him with the Saints, though he played for the Steelers in 1969. He also appeared on a 1969 Saints Doubloon and some oddball Topps issues.
