There are 88 cards in the 1959 Topps CFL football card set. The cards have the same design, front and back, as 1959 Topps NFL cards. The 88 cards would have fit an even three times on a standard 264-card sheet, so there are no short prints or double prints in the set. The set contains numerous errors, and Topps tended to repeat the errors from year to year. Ron Allbright's name, for instance is misspelled on all three of his Topps CFL cards.

The 1959 CFL set contains a number of players who would move to the American Football League in its early years. Al Dorow, Eddie Macon, Sam DeLuca, Mack Yoho, and Bill Jessup all jumped to the AFL in 1960, its inaugural season. Ernie Warlick, Gerry McDougall, Jack Simpson, and Milt Graham eventually played in the AFL, as well.
