1960 Kahns Football Cards
1960 was the second year that Kahn's, "The Wiener the World Awaited," distributed football cards. There are 38 cards in the 1960 set, all Browns and Steelers but one, Willie Davis. The Browns traded Davis to the Green Bay Packers before the start of the 1960 season, but he appeared in the Kahn's set, anyway, and the team on the back of his card was simply changed to the Packers.
Like the 1959 Kahn's cards, the 1960 cards are large, at 3 1/4 by 3 15/16 inches. The cards are not numbered; they are listed below in alphabetical order. The key card in the set is Jim Brown, and the set includes pre-rookie cards of two Hall-of-Famers: Willie Davis, mentioned above, and Gene Hickerson.Image | Set | # | Card Title/Players | Pro Team | Position | College | Honors | Notes | Grades available at Nearmint Sports Cards |

1960 Kahns | Willie Davis | Green Bay Packers | defensive end | Grambling | Packers Hall of Fame 1975, Pro Football Hall of Fame 1981 | Pre-rookie card Davis is the only player in the 1960 Kahn's set who is not a Pittsburgh Steeler or a Cleveland Brown. The Browns traded Davis to the Green Bay Packers in July of 1960, apparently after this set was in the works. Rather than removing him, Kahn's just changed the team on the back of his card. This is a pre-rookie card for Davis; his 1964 Philadelphia card is considered his rookie card. |
